Previously known as Royal Mysore Walks, Gully Tours are curated tours that acquaint travellers to southern India’s offbeat paths and the quintessential sensory experiences tucked away in them.
CHALLENGE
To rebrand the growing travel startup with a logo & identity that preserves the nostalgia of the Mahavat (elephant keeper) but also brings in a freshness & dynamism to the brand.
THE G LOGO
The elephant from Royal Walks was iconic not only for the brand and the city of Mysore but also for the team and how they related to it. The elephant was integrated into a G form. The G extends as the frame for travel photography - creating an engaging window into the tours.
PROCESS
We dive into rebranding with a strip-search of the existing brand to find its essence and then make a conscious choice of what to retain and what to let go. It starts with a subtraction before adding anything.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Mysore, Bangalore, Kochi, Coorg - lush, living locations deserve to be captured in all their drama, diversity, depth & colours. With photography leading as the hero of the brand, the less we say the better.
Making the digital experience approachable with simple and identifiable elements that are aligned with the brand visual system.
TRAVEL
To bring in the element of movement we used running trails of text on the borders of the visuals that encourages readers to rotate and read. The ever-changing photography, elephant pug-marks & illustrations borrowed from the locations leaves the viewer asking for more, inspiring wanderlust.
